Default Why is it +6 arms instead of +3 or 4?

I've had some down time to look around at the suspension options for the wife's Teryx and I see everyone has settled on +6 it seems.

With the relationship being similar yet so different between the UTV's, how did that come to be? The Teryx is wider than the Rhino so why doesn't the Rhino have +8 arms (or maybe I've missed them since I've mostly looked at Teryx items)?

On the quads, 50" is the max for MX and I'd kinda hate to go back to the stock width but there is the limit so the mfg's only go the the +2 wider give or take a little. The overall width is the same from mfg to mfg. That doesn't appear to be the case for the UTV's or do I just need to "get out more"?

I don't keep up with any racing so I don't know if there is a max width for them like for ATV's?

Is the +6 a compromise, better geometry, what is the reason?

Just curious.
