I will be having a 30" LED lightbar mounted on my cage and another 10" LED lightbar mounted on my bumper, what do all of you think in regards to the battery? Upgrade to an Optima, keep the factory one, or must run two?

I would think you would need to atleast upgrade the battery to keep from over working the stator.

I spoke to the shop doing the work, they said no upgrade or additional battery necessary...they told me I would be fine, no problems at all.
I will keep an eye on it, and if necessary, replace the stock battery with an Optima ![]()

I guess I am wondering if anyone what kind of power is available on the stock electrical system. It would be nice to know before you just keep adding stuff till you began having problems. I know the rule of thumb always has been 13.8 to 14.6 V while charging on any 12V system. I guess if you were just monitor the voltage level till the nominal voltage starts to drop you would know what is to much! Some of the big boomer audio systems today will kill a V8 without a second battery and a massive alternator.
Anyway I always like to have the actual spec's...... ![]() ![]()

Any constant draw item like lights I would go smaller or stock battery. Batteries use a good portion of your charging capacity to charge, it is just like a light or winch or what ever.
As far as I know, no one makes a HO for the Teryx. Alternators are a bad idea too, they don't last long in dirt, mud and water. Todd |
