Do you have an aftermarket CDI installed?

Well a while back, the VDI had an issue with the 4x4.

Let me ask you this, did you put it in 4x4, drive around and then just throw it in 2x4? If this happens again, stop, put it in reverse, go back really quick, then put it in drive and see if it disengages.

Hmmm I am not sure...the only problems with 4x4 that I know of were due to the VDI, but those were taken care of. Are you still under warranty?

There is a actuator on drive shaft side of the front diff and it slides a collar back and forth in the input shaft.

With engine off, can you hear it with the key on and flipping the switch?

no cant hear it.... i was thinking something electrical because the 4wd on the display is on(even with the switch in 2wd) and what i have read up when the actuactor screws up alot of people were saying there display was switching back and forth from 4wd to 2wd. i do alot of mud/water riding so i was thinking maybe relay??? but i dunno if one the ones under the seat is even for the 4wd?? oh and i have already unpluged em cleaned the conections and greased em
