Oil Filter Cross Reference

I believe the stock oil filter is 2.5" long. Does anyone know if a 3.25" long oil filter will fit on the Teryx, or is there not enough clearance? I was going to go with the Purolator Pure One PL14612, but it is 3.25" long. I prefer the longer filter if it will fit.

It is too long. I ran into the same problem with mobil 1 filters. M-108 will fit while the m-110 is just a little too long. I run either one on my prairie. There are no clearance issues on it.

Thanks for the reply. I tried the longer filter after I made the origianal post, and realized that the longer filter will not fit without some modification to the radiator hose. I have since added a list of 2.5" filters that will fit the Teryx to the How-To's section, and the M1-108 was one of the filters on that list.

Anyone know why the Teryx filter number is different from the Brute filter number.I know a lot of the Kawasaki water craft take the Teryx filter.I was thinking it may have a higher flow or pressure rating since it is used on the bigger water craft engines.

that is a good question I went to the dealer to get one and the guy told me it was the same as the brute and another guy behind the counter spoke up and said it was not . So after they went back in forth about part numbers the brute is not the same as the teryx.

16097-0003 that is the part number off the box they gave me and if it ends in 0002 it is for a brute.

it must have something to do with pressure the guy told me it would blow off it I used the wrong one.

I had that happen on a car once with a napa filter.

I used the Napa Gold 1365 and it seems to be just fine. On the Tractor oil in the rear end of the Teryx, I had seen a list somewhere of different cross references on this oil. One of the hydralic oils happened to have been a Kabota UDT which is in a qt. size at the tractor dealerships. I didn't use this oil this time, but I may in the future . I used the Kawasaki oil in the rear end and it was like $ 8.00 a qt. or there abouts.

I think that any tractor hydraulic oil made for use with wet brake systems should work fine. I just picked some up at the ford tractor dealer here by the house. I think it was called Multi G Hydraulic Transmission Oil ($3 Quart). The guy at the dealership told me that it is what the ford tractors use, and what they put in all tractors that they service or repair. It also met John Deere specs for use with wet brakes. I will let you know if my rear go's out anytime soon. But for now, it seems that the rear braking has improved alot since the fluid change.
