Teryx or Ranger?

I have never owned a UTV and I am looking at the Teryx and the Ranger. I like the looks and feel of the Teryx best but the Ranger has some appeal also. What are your opinions?

We will do some trail riding and some hunting with the vehicle. Wht is the Teryx better for trail? I see the polaris has 4" more ground clearance and 2" inches more suspension travel.

i think the ranger has a limited slip rear end also which makes it easier on turf, teryx has locked rear n will tear yard up more. teryx def a better trail machine tho

I would buy the Teryx, it is a much sportier machine, the Teryx has a mix of work and play, you can make it more either way by the mods you add to it, you can turn it in to a work horse or you can turn it into a full race machine, it has alot of versitility.

I test drove a Ranger before I got my Teryx. I really didn't like the ride. It was a littler larger, but felt like I was driving a Tank. The body roll was vary noticeable.

The Ranger also has a bench seat. If your going to take two of your friends with you, it's probably a bonus, but I much preferred the bucket seats on Teryx. As for performance, the Teryx just seemed to be more sporty and agile.

At the end of the day, you've got to get out and drive them all before you make up your mind.

I'm not sure about all the other makes, but the Teryx has a few issues too. The belt intake and exhaust is in an odd spot and the belt gets wet easily. Moisture can get trapped in the throttle cable and the frond diff lock cable. If the climate in your region gets below freezing, your cables can freeze up.

But, a lot of manufacturing pit falls can be modded. I'd say, the Teryx is the best of the bunch.

2010 Teryx LE,
MSD
Muzzy's Duel Exhaust
Dalton Clutch Kit
HW Overdrive Clutch Cover
Snorkeled
K&N Modded Air Filter
HID Light bar
Odyssey PC925 Battery
Black Rhino gauge Pod (Tach, volt, W Temp)
27" Zilla's
Muzzy 840, Stage II cams, 38mm throttle bodies,
324 injectors, Water impeller,
new stock crank, rods and barring

I too had the same quandry... I went with the teryx it is more nimble and still has the capacity to work. I pull a mower on our farm and have never been let down by the teryx. works great for hunting and just trailriding. I have the 2010 sport. I have added a powermadd 1/2 windshield, a double gun scabbard, tcp alum. A-arm guards and a viper max 4k wide spool winch. These additions make my teryx ready for anything I can forsee. Good Luck with your choice.

Depends on whether you like to ride on it or work on it. If you like to ride get a Teryx
