Default Muzzy backfiring need help

I seem to have my jetting correct, around 12-13 on the a/f meter. Don't think I have an exhaust leak. I took the exhaust off put and high temp silicone in all the joints. As soon as I let off popping/backfiring instantly. Worse going down hill. Can anyone advise on this..

Are the quiet cores still in?

What does your gauge say on decel?

Who's jet kit?

How many turns out on the fuel mixture screw?

Where is the fuel mixture screw? Are you talking about the knob under the driver's seat? (idle adjust screw?) I have the stock exhaust but mine pops alot too when I let off the accel. and it's all stock.

Five Flat, the knob under the seat is for idle speed only it has nothing to do with mixture.

Each carb. has a low speed mixture screw on the bottom. From the factory they have a thin metal "cap" (you know, EPA B.S.) covering them... Your jet kit has instructions to show how to remove them. (carefully drill a hole and use a sheet metal screw to pop them out)

Fiveflat,

I am assuming you don't have our jet kit. Go to our website by clicking the link below and watch the install video of the jet kit and it will show you the mixture screws and how to remove cap.

I tried an experiment, I put in the recommended jets, and settings that dynojet
suggest. Still popping. Todd the reason I went with 1.5 out on the air screw, that where the F/M said I should be. But the richer I go there the better. Has anyone you know of had to run the larger pilot? Do you sell it?

FYI Todd, your kit works way better, then the Dynojet recommendations.

Anyone with an 08 with STD Bore Kit or 840 kit has new #40 pilots, stock is #38.

There is a thread on here that talks about the #40 Pilots part number. I believe it was Tee-Rible who finally came up with it.
