Default Fuel pump+840

Just wondering if those of you running FST840 kits are using the stock fuel pump or if you have upgraded. I purchased my 08 used and it already had a Facet elect. fuel fump installed. Ocasionally while running wide open, say maybe down a dirt road, the engine seems to cut out. Doesnt feel like a limiter to me, rather the engine is running out of fuel. I do have an aftermarket cdi, so I dont think its the rev limiter. Any suggestions?

Stock fuel pump is fine. Your problem maybe your clutch. If its stock, you will hit the limit of the belt in the high 50's. If feels like its running out of fuel when it happens.

Interesting, I never would have suspected the clutch as a possibile culprit. I do have the Dalton clutch, but no overdrive cover. Thanks for the input Champ.

I get the cutout also on my 840. Im thinking its the cdi/stock coil issue. New coils will be here on the 15th

If you have the 840 kits and still stock clutch, then it is indeed the rev limiter in your cdi, doesn't matter if it is a stock cdi or non-programable (dyna) cdi. I believe (?) if you have the programmable cdi, then you can surpass the rev limiter....IF you have built your own program into the #4 position.
That's the only way I know of, when you can get by the rev limiter, with stock clutch.....but I could be wrong. I thought Mickey or Chase had explained it before on an earlier post, but I can't seem to find it.
The rev limiter to me has always felt like....well...running out of gas!

I do have a programmable cdi and thought the rev limiter had been eliminated...maybe not. Might need to dig further into my cdi paperwork. Thanks for the info.

On our 840 with Dyna and Dalton clutch + overdrive plate we still hit the rev limiter 9200RPM @ 72 MPH

The programmable CDI programs STILL have all 4 position rev limiters "factory" set at 9,200 rpm...(I think) So with the programmable CDI you must also have the cable interface cord for your CDI and computer....and the computer program software, this is an additional purchase, think HW has the kit. It is at the bottom of this post. When I was reading about it before, someone had said they set their rev limiter at 11,500 rpm. This is the only way I know of, that it can be done.

I just read up on my software and made a change to the rev limiter. Not sure how far I can change it and still be safe, so I only went set it 300 above the already 9200 rpm setting. Any suggestions on limit settings would be appreciated. Thanks

I don't remmeber where i read this but there is no power after the 9200, only if you have a camshaft support that.
