Default Video Of Remote Controlled B-29

I have never owned an RC plane, but have always thought they are pretty cool. Check this one out, B-29 replica that runs on four chainsaw motors, notice the X1 on the bottom

I bet this guy has spent a lot of time and money on this bad boy:

The B-29 used to belong to Mac Hodges in Andersonville, GA. Mac is a great guy. Mac's friend and fellow hobbyist Dan Stevens built the B-29 back in 2002 and they have been traveling the country with the aircraft ever since performing the now famous routine with the X-1. Dan passed away almost two weeks ago from cancer, which makes the loss of the B-29 quite ironic. Some of us like to think Dan took the B-29 with him. Dan Stevens and his B-29 will never be forgotten!

Mac's engines on the B-29 are designed and built to be R/C Aircraft engines, they are not converted from anything else. Check them out - RC Showcase

The rocket in the X-1 is a custom Aerotech unit. I forget the exact specs (they've been playing with different loads), but I think it's roughly equivilent to "G" motor. If anybody really wants to know, I can find out pretty easily.

This is actually Version 2.1 of the B-29. The first was built in the late 80's and never really meant to fly. It was given to Mac after the builder died and Mac (along Dan Stevens of Albany, GA - builder of the V2 B-29) got it flying. It spanned 16 feet and was powered by 4 Quadra 62's. Mac flew it for over 10 years and hundreds of flights. Finally, about 5 years ago while flying at the Joe Nall event, a wing folded during a roll. The plane was totally destroyed.

Almost immediately, Dan started construction on the second bomber. This one is foam-cored with balsa sheeting (V1 was all wood). It spans 20 feet and is powered by 4 ZDZ 80's. While doing a low inverted pass at an event in Fort Valley, GA Mac touched the tail on the ground. The plane nosed in broke apart. Dan rebuilt it (hence the 2.1 ) and it's been flying safely ever since.

The Heli pilot is Alan Szabo Jr. He is one of the top in the world and develops helicopters for the company who makes the one in the video, Align. His flying is definitely real, he has been one of the worlds best pilots since he was a kid.

Interesting, thank you Mr. RC Historian. Do you have any RC planes or helicopters?

Yes I have a feeling that Magellan has a few RC products...I have actually been thinking about getting a helicopter and he will be the first call I make before getting one. He does have a TON of information on his Helifreak.com - Fun, Learning, Friendship and Mutual Respect site.

Yea, I am into RC planes. I have quite a few, nothing as nice as that B-29 though.
I also fly the real ones.

SWEET!! I have a commercial multi instrument and did the flight instructor and limited freight until I went to the IS industry to make some money. Sometimes when I go fast enough over rough enough, I feel like I am flying.
