Yes but altenators fail under extreme riding conditions(water,mud) and for the number of altenators you are gonna replace vs stator install i think going with the altenator is a very bad choice. To further this discussion you have to run a belt which can slip or break and you have to make modifications to the engine bay to fit brackets and pulleys. Stator is the correct and right way to achieve the result you are looking for.

go buy a factory stator and see what it cost you. 450 with the gaskets and complete systems is cheap. also put that alternator under water and see what happens.
