Winch mounting

Does any one have a 4000lbs warn winch or something similar mounted on thier Teryx.

What plate did you use or what did you modify? I think the kawi one is only good for 3000 lbs.

pictures?

Yup. I installed the Motoalliance Viper Max 4500. It came with the correct mount.

How do the Vipers compare to the Warns?

I also installed the Motoalliance Viper Max 4500. It came with the correct mount...(?), I still had to shim the plate to get it to line up exactly with the stock plastic on the bumper.
I could not tell you which one is better, one of my friends has a warn 4000 and I think it weighs 5-8 pounds heavier than my viper 4500, so my assumptions are that the casing is thicker(?) maybe gears thicker(?) just don't know. I can tell you I have used the 4500 flawlessly since I've installed it, not had a problem in a years use, and I have used it quite a bit.

I have had both Warn and now Moto Alliance. Biggest difference as far as I can tell is in the instructions. Warn has much better documentation. Factory mount worked ok for me. I did have to flip the fairlead for better clearance on the bumper cover (see pics).

We have the viper 4500 on our '09 sport, the price made it justifiable for me. Quality wise, it seems good. I have not used it a ton of times, but I have put a ranger back on it's feet while out in the dunes with no problem.

I'd recommend it.

Another vote for the Viper from Moto-Alliance, used mine several times and its worked flawlessly, mine is the older 4000 lb model, compared to the Warn, they are real close. I have a Warn 2500 on my Prairie and have had several on different fourwheelers and they also are a good winch, the money factor on the Viper was a why not factor for me.
