Plastic Push Pin Replacement
Hey guys/gals,
I've been kicking around the idea of coming up with something to replace those damned plastic push pins, I've fashioned a tool that removes them pretty easily, but I get bored easily so I figured that I'd try some other things...I went to Fastenal today and the guy gave me a few different sizes of rubber well nuts ...they fit in the holes with the push pins went very well. You just tighten a screw and it pulls the back up against the plastic pieces...holds much more securely than the plastic push pins...
I guess my question here is has anyone tried this or done this? I'll throw up some pictures tomorrow of the assembly and how it works.
On another note, we came up with something to use on the bed as well. Its a jam-nut and a stainless allen screw with a finishing washer...much like the kit off eBay for $60 or so...we pieced this one together for less than $20 and it works flawlessly...once the jam-nuts are collapsed they're permanent and they go under the plastic so you dont have to worry about them coming out or spinning or anything like that. I'll throw up some pictures of that too. We did this because I couldnt find anywhere that stated what exactly was in the kit on eBay and I wasnt sure if it was stainless or not...I dont know if it makes a big deal, but at less than half the price I thought it was a good idea...
Like I said, I was just curious if anyone else had pieced together anything to replace these plastic fasteners.
Pics will be up tomorrow of the individual pieces and how they work for others' information.
