Hood Swap Question

I have an '08 and was wondering if there is an aftermarket hood that goes on more like the Rhino and others that will lift up rather than the 20+ screws it takes to get it off? Or can I put a newer year hood on an '08?

2008 Teryx, 2" Gorilla lift, w/ 28" ITP's, Performance CDI, Snorkeled, Mile Marker Winch, Marine CD Player and Speakers.

Maier you can take off the center hood scoop for access
Teryx 750 | Maier USA
But most people cut the hood below the front cage bungs on the seam and they lift off pretty easy. Chad.

I have a 2010 and a buddy has an 2008 and it looks like you probably could. We looked at it briefly last year but he didn't like the 2010 look then and decided to just cut his hood and use hood pins to support it and hold it down. Everything looks pretty much identical under there. Its just the hood and all that connects to it and the plastic between the dash and hood.

Thanks guys. I'm going to look more into it. I thought about that 3 piece hood. brianlich, how did it look after he cut the hood and pinned it?

He cut it in kind of a V shape where the cuts come straight down the hood behind the headlights and then inboard and then down again at a inward angle. That is so the the headlights stay on the bike when you take the hood off. I think the headlights are braced to the front bumper or frame up there so he did it like that. Then he took some flat stock about an inch wide and bent them up to weld to the frame and and then flatten out on top and welded hood pins to them and that keeps the pretty much straight up front and off course the screws in the back that attach it to the dash. It's not that noticeable on his bike as it would be because of it being a camo bike. He is gone to Mud Nats right now or I would send you a pic. I can get one next week if you want. Looks are important to me as well as function so if it was me I would just buy a 2010 front end. I looked at the Maier front and 2010 and up factory hood and it would be worth probably doing the newer factory hood. The hood itself I found for $14X dollars plus the other pieces you will need (small parts) and then reuse some of the screws and stuff. Come out cheaper than $450 for the Maier hood. That's just me. Looks ok depending on who you ask and functions better than any other option as everything flips up and out of the way.
