FST Rock Slider Nerfs - Modded and installed

Got my Teryx side plastic back installed today and hopefully fixed once and for all.

Got the FST Rock Slider Nerfs and modded them to fit my application. Good to have some welders as next door neighbors.

This is how they are supposed to fit direct from FST and I would eliminate myself being able to ride probably 50% of the trails I do if I installed them like this.

Now for what we did to better suite my application.

The photos I took with my iPhone (sorry not superb quality) show the differences between the stock left side of photo and the one on the right we modded goth front and rear to make it work for us. I needed to keep my machine narrow enough to ride the trails I frequent. Next two photos you can see where you drill the frame front and rear and through bolt them in place with the included hardware. Last 2 photos show the left side installed. What do you guys think? They are definitely sturdy, I will give a ride report when I ride next time. It is SO nice to have side plastic on my machine again.

Modding Process

Here is the stock front mounting bracket

Now what we did to change the angle and make it square with the nerf bar. We later cut this again and added a section to move the whole thing forward but you can get the idea.

Trusty reciprocating saw

This pic shows how much we shortened the rear of the nerf bar so my Teryx could stay as narrow as possible. This photo shows the rear test bolted in for fittment behind the rear fender plastic, the finished install is on top of the plastic.

Overall, the FST Nerfs seem pretty good and heavy wuality as well as very sturdy. Looking forward to keeping my side plastic!!

I wish they would make them this way to begin with, people who trailride in the northeast are limited to 60 inches wide in most areas.

They make them for the LT kits. When I talked to FST they told me that their major market all uses LT kits and needs them wide. My neighbors at J&J Automotive, (Patti Kenneth and James) said no worries, they can fix them for me and they did.

I test rode with them yesterday and they worked AWESOME!!! We rode 45 miles through some major rocks. I love them, my side plastic life expectancy just went up by a long time.

I know this is a reply to my own thread, but is anyone making any kind of nerfs that protect like these I had modded? I need a set for my wife's 09 but I don't have another 600 to devote to the project like I had to with the FST rock slider nerfs I show pics of above. I need ones that can slide over rocks without damaging the side plastic mounting lugs.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thunderhawk Performance will be releasing some in March. Right now we're eyeball-deep in RZR projects. Once those are out of the way, we'll be devoting our time to the Teryx. There's a bunch of good stuff coming
