Weird??
Are you certain nothing is pushing down on the neutral wire into the tranny. The only reason I ask this is because....it did the same thing to me, and took me a while to figure out, whenever I put the cowling back on it was pushing into my heat shield which was grounding out and pushing down into the wire...just a thought. Seems like it has to be pushing down into something though. Unless, there is some wire covering melted off somewhere else grounding out the neutral wire.?.?

Well now I am glad you all brought this topic up, I am going to check my linkage and see if adjusting it some will help (once I find the damn place to do it) because I was going nuts trying to find where it (the wiring) was shorting out. You must be on the right track though because some days it is just fine then probably one or two days I have the same problem, either gotta move my shifter a little or push on the brake to start in neutral.
My teryx caught fire after about 20 hours and I had to replace lotsa wiring, and with my other problem...the heat shield pushing into the neutral wiring...I was assuming it was still in the wiring somewhere. Since you guys have the same problem it must be in adjusting the linkage? That's what my dumbass gets for assuming. Anybody out there ??? give me some help on where to adjust the linkage?

you can adjust the shift linkage on the right side, it adjusts just like a tie rod. mine needs constant adjustment. if it gets out of adjustment the tranny can start popping out of gear and thats big trouble!

I just did this, my neutral light would come on half way between neutral and high. The adjustment is in the linkage, loosen the two nuts and turn the shaft to get the neutral light in the correct position and then tighten the nuts. Super easy.
