Thumbs down New AZ Regs (and they want your $$$)

Arizona is going to require more registration and yearly decal purchases starting in Jan 2009 for all OHV owners. It is $25 per vehicle per year for the decal (although as the Government continues to get more and more greedy, that fee will increase)

You may want to see the attached flyer, or check out the government website...
New OHV regulations in Arizona will go into effect Jan. 1, 2009

If I believed this money would really go towards it's designated purpose and that the fees wouldn't skyrocket in future years, I would be all for the fee, but I just don't think that will happen.

Anyway, enough of my moaning about it, this is an FYI.

One good thing is you will no longer need to be out of state permits for Cali when going to the dunes! Still needs the dunes pass, but not the out of state sticker.

Ya Mikeomo, after all these trips to the dunes, I never knew I needed a sticker, lol.

Do we know if this fee is in addition to the State Trust permit? I spoke to Arizona Game and Fish and they did not know.

Also, I continue to check Service Arizona to purchase the off-road sticker, but it is still not on there.

You SHOULD be able to get the sticker here, so keep an eye out, I will be sure to let everyone know when it is up.

ServiceArizona

In regards to taking more money, I am with you...I am MORE than happy to give this money to them if it is going towards keeping the land open, but I really do not know. I have always said that unless people start cleaning up after themselves, we will have no place to ride. We do desert rides frequently, and I will be honest, the desert is way full of trash...keep it up and we will have nowhere to ride except to our mailbox!

Well according to the website the decals will be available to puchase on 1/1/09 at the MVD office, and on 1/2/09 on the service az website. However, the website also said that for those ohv's that are street legal, they don't need to pay the full $25.

Ya it makes no sense, cause the people I talked to indicated that it was still necessary based on the fact that it is intended for off-road vehicles. No one really seems to know what is going on.

I believe you also still need the separate permit for the state trust lands, but at least that is available online now, didn't used to be

When I read the new law I was under the impression that you were still required to get the off road tag even if the vehical was street legal. May I'm wrong I hope so!
