Clicking noise when off gas

Does anyone else have this problem.? I have a new '08 Teryx with only 50 miles and 8 hours on it. Just today I started hearing a metal sounding clicking noise coming from under and behind me. At first I thought I might have a branch stuck undernieth but there was nothing there. It definitly sounds internal now. It only happens at a slow speed (5 MPH or less), louder in Low than High and only when I release the gas pedal. It doesn't happen in reverse. Please don't tell me its normal because it didn't happen before today.

Pretty sure it has always been there but you never noticed. I would say it was the clutch disengaging. It is very noticeable with the dalton kit.

Nothing to worry about.

I have to tell you Hunterworks. There is no way I didn't hear this before. Especially going slow on the trails. There is clicking like crazy going on when there was none of that sound before yesterday. Me and my son heard it for the first time. Someone told me to try adjusting the shifter rod. He thinks its the trans trying to disengage when off the gas. He said to make sure the distance on the rod is the same from N to H as it is from N to R. He had the same problem and fixed it by this method. What do you think?

It's hard to tell but my had something similar and the shifter does get out of adjustment really easy. Does your Nuetral light come on or do you have to move your shifter to get it to start?

Just checked the shifter. Everything there seems fine. N light comes on when it is supposed to and all gears go in OK and in their slots. Someone suggested it might be the engine brake making noise but no way of knowing unless I disconnect it to see if it disappears. Anyone know how to temporarily disconnect it? Appreciate it you can let me know how!

Found how to disconnect engine brake on this site (just unplug connector) I will try it tomorrow. Stopped at Kawi dealer today, without machine and talked with service mgr. I described noise and said i will bring it in in 10 more hours. He said he heard it on plenty of Teryxs and not to worry about it. That these machines make all kinds of noises with all the gears and splines meshing. Some answer!!! I asked him how come i didn't have it before and he said as the machine breaks in, noises develop. Get used to it, lol

I've had the same clunking sound out of my teryx since it's had about 20 hours on it and I've got about 40 on it now and I never seem to have any problems except once in a while when I park it and put in the nuetral slot it's still in gear, either in forward or reverse and I have to take it out of nuetral and put it back gear then back in nuetral. Does this sound like the shifter needs adjustment? And how do you adjust it. Also I'm curious to hear what you find out about the clunking.
Thanks

Maybe your belt has enough slack on it and the clutch moves more freely now doing the clicking. I hear it all time on mine with Dalton.

Well, I went to Kawi today and described noise to them and they said its normal. Hard to believe considering I didn't have it before. When I bring it in for 20 service I will make mechanic hear it. As far as your Teryx, greenone, it definitly sounds like your problem is the shifter adjustment. Go to teryxforumns.net and look for my post for the clanking problem. Then look for "sandmankrohn"'s response. In it he explains how to adjust the shifter rod. Good Luck!

That makes a lot of sense hunter. I did a belt deflection measurement and iithe deflection measures 30-31 mm. I know spec is 22-27mm. Do you think mine is stretched enough to require an adjustment? And will it get rid of the noise?
