2009 Teryx Sport...

Just wondering if anyone can help.. Just bought a brand new 2009 Teryx and put 4 hours on it.. recently during heavy riding it started smoking a little bit.. not much but when i come to a complete stop it smells as if something is on fire.. Also, does anyone know why it would be making a squealing noise when i ascend? Belt Slippage? And on the left side of the transmission cases ( in the back under the bed on the muffler side) it looks as if there is a hole where a plug should be.. is there a hole there on anyone elses? or am i missing a plug?

I have never heard a squealing noise on my 2009 with about 9 hours on it but I would guess belt slippage. Might need to be adjusted already. Also you should be using low gear when climbing big hills and stuff. That smoke and smell could be the belt burning. Does it happen the same time you get the squealing? I will have to look at look at mine for this hole you are talking about.

If it is the belt then the noise i am hearing is probably just the belt slipping... But the hole that i am talking about would be seen on the drivers side, you probably have to get down to eye level because it is directly underneath the muffler and cannot be seen otherwise.. the only reason this hole concerns me is because dirt gets in there and i am hoping it is not exposing the rear gear housing to dirt and water.
Thanks

And no, the squealing happens all of the time.. whenever i go from a dead stop to a moderate speed i can hear it for the first couple of feel.. i thought it might be the clutch slipping but im not sure. and it only smokes and smells odd after i run it hard for a good 30 minutes or so..(running hard meaning drifting out of corners pedal to the floor, and topping it out on straight aways, wide open the whole time)

The smoking sounds like the oil coming up into the air box..not sure if 09's are plumbed the same however lots of threads on the forums about oil bloing up thru the breather into the intake.

On the squealing is is right before you hit the brakes or you come over a rise and you lett off the gas for a moment mine does this. I beleive it is the engine brake kicking in...sounds like a tight belt squeel....

no squealing happens when i get moving from a dead stop.. and it could be oil coming up but i keep reading that the 2009's are set up differently and that this isnt an issue anymore.. as it was with the 08's.. im more concerned with the smoking and it smells like its on fire.. i dont mean smoking out of the exhaust, i mean smoke coming from the engine compartment.. coolant levels are good.. do you know anything about this hole?
And would the burning smell also be associated with the oil coming up into the air box?

How do i check to see if it is oil? would oil just be sitting in the airbox? and is there any solution to this issue?
Thanks

If it is oil and you are riding with friends anytime this happends, they should notice the bluish colored smoke coming out of your exhaust. As far as this problem being fixed on the 09's, believe me its not fixed. You need to fix it yourself.

I had a look at mine. From your description I was thinking the whole you were talking about was actually on the engine since that is where the transmission is. I now realize you were talking about the rear differential. I have that same hole except it isn't actually a hole. It looks like it is just for another model or something and maybe a sensor goes in there but the hole isn't there.
