Unisteer install - problem removing stock shaft

I am having a problem getting the stock shaft out.

Removed upper and lower u-joint pinch bolts. Removed the lower steering column mount bolt and lossened the upper mount bolt.

I cannot get enough distance to get the shaft off of the splines.

Anyone know the secret?

If you cannot get enough distance by pushing down on the steering wheel to move the part behind the dash up enough to get the stock shaft off, you will need to remove both of the two bolts holding the steering column. The easiest one to get to has a captive nut, but the one closest to the steering wheel does not and it is a major PITA to get it back on. I hope you have small hands or a child to assist you.

Installing the steering was the hardest thing I have done to date with my Teryx and I am about to get a second PS unit for my wife's Teryx. I must love her a lot.

I have the lower steering column bolt off, and the upper is loose like they say in the instructions. Just getting the upper loose was a PITA. Not sure I want to remove it!

With only the bottom one out, you will need to push down on your steering wheel to try to get the stock steering shaft off the upper splines. If you cannot get it off, you will have to remove the bolt and nut closest to the steering wheel to pull out on the column enough to get the shaft off unfortunately.

I finally got it out, and it was a struggle.

And you are right, small hands would help.

Pulling the hood is by far the best route to go... I just finished modifying my hood so I can leave my cage mounted. I had to pull my rack last night.
