squeaky noise back of passenger seat

When i am riding my teryx i am getting a squeaky noise from the lower back of the passenger seat. Sounds like a washer on a shaft that is turning. I think it must have to do with the cvt but not sure. It also sometime squeals a little bit when sitting still at idle while in gear. Is there something i need to adjust or is this normal?

How many hours on your Teryx? It could easily be belt slippage and you need to do an inspection before you fry the belt. check out the posts on this, it's even in the owners manual w/ pics.
You remove a few plastic "rivets" from the motor cover + a couple screws lift off the whole cover remove 4 small bolts from inspection (see manual for insp cover location)cover and push down on the cvt belt with 13 pounds weight-I use an approximate weight resting on a screwdriver.
In inches the allowable play is about .85 inches to 1.1 inches or 22-27 mm but 22mm is way preferable to 27mm

Measure how much the weight makes the belt sag down-There may also be a small animal trapped in your cvt housing, dying a slow and painful death each time you ride, so inspection is a humanitarian issue as well!

Not sure if it is ok on the CVT belt, but I would squirt a little water on it to see ifthe noise goes away after you check belt deflection.

the high pitch squeel in gear means your belt is nice and tight...i dont know how accurate the 13lbs of weight is by accessing the cvt inspection plate...but i was told by a clutch guru especially these v twin kawie motors that to tell if the belt is nice and tight is to look at how the belt sits in the secondary sheeves...if the top cogs are flush or lower than the secondary sheeves it needs tightening..if its about 1/16" of an inch or a tad higher its fine....the best and easiest way to check for this is to remove the cvt exhaust plastic snorkel and shine a flash light in to see...its the snorkel on the passenger side in front of teh rear tire...shouldnt take more than 5 min to check..

Hey db, I've heard the same thing regarding the belt ride-height in the rear pulley. My Teryx belt has been trouble free since the thin-shim removal and I've never checked it since. It sounds quicker than the factory 13 lb method (the simple factory tool takes approx. 13 lbs to compress a button on the top.) I may switch to your method when I change belts. Thanks for the info
