08 Pwners NEED DASA rings...

Went by DASA yesterday and checked on my Teryx...haven't seen it since they started using it for the mock up on their new edition pipes...

Anyways DASA wanted to make sure I knew they appreciated the loan and they were installing a FST 840 kit on my Teryx!!!!! These guys are just WAY cool to have as friends in the industry...

BUT while they were in there we found out I DID in fact sand my motor at some point when the stock plenum fell off...before the DASA plenum rings were installed...only 41 hours on the machine...here's the pics of the rear cylinder...

You can see where the cross hatching stops...I would have never known until my motor started using oil...41 hours on the machine and only 27 are MY hours...

For anyone who has a 08? You should make this a priority...GET THE DASA PLENUM RINGS that were invented by DASA to prevent this problem...

On the bright side?...Well you could always NOT get them and use it as an excuse to order a 840 kit...

Hard to really tell in the picture, but I don't see any scratches of any kind the cylinders just don't have cross hatching in them which on a kawasaki v-twin is completely normal.

What would make a Kawasaki v-twin different than any other motor?...

Take a 650 rincon motor for example... even at 2000 miles they'll still keep cross hatcing on their nicasil cylinders. You can take a part a kawasaki v-twin with less than 100 and the cross hatcing will be gone from the factory. Now after you send them off and get the replated for an 840 they seem to hold the cross hatching like a typical nikasil cyl. Either way those cylinders are fine.

I'm going to go with what the guys at DASA said since they do it for a living...those cylinders are cores for another 840 kit now anyways...

Well, they aren't the only ones that do this for a living.

It's not a problem either way because you're doing an 840... I was just more so explaining for the rest that are reading.

Ordered my DASA Rings last week ... just wish UPS would move a little faster. Was hoping to do the clutch (Dalton) at the same time, but that will have to wait a couple more weeks. Just the thought of the plenum possibly slipping out takes the fun out of riding.
