kaw warranty [email protected]#&$

well took the teryx in for what i thought would be warranty repair and found out that not much is covered by warranty .first i had a rear output shaft seal leaking mind you this bike only has 40 hrs on it and to have them check the belt it has a squeeling noise in drive at idle , the dealer informed me that he needed 2.5 hrs auth. to just inspect the belt said he had to remove tank and frame . (i thought there was an inspection plate) well come to find out there is and the tech and i proceeded to check deflection and found that there must be something wrong becuse the deflection is over 1.95 inches wich is almost a full inch out of specs and the tech says it should be warranty but kaw. says no . they say that it is a maint. issue ,even though the manuals say 200 hrs for first inspection so if you wait then your warranty is up and they don't care .so either pay or trade either way you'll pay. well I'll let you know what happens.

So is your belt toast or does it just need to be tightened?

What seems odd to me is everywhere I have read and looked, all I have found is that the belt is to be inspected at 200 hours or 2000 km.

With that being said, at 40 hours you would say to yourself, my is this a maintenance issue when your manual clearly states that it does not need to be inspected until 200 hours. They are implying that the belt should not be out of adjustment for 200 hours, but in case it is, then is the time to check. I am of course exaggerating but you see what I mean.

Now in the beginning I would have swore that I read somewhere that inspection was to be done at initial 20 hour service, however, I have yet to find it again.

keep us in the loop as to what happens.

Kawie Warranty????

Same warranty issue here also. I have 10.1 hrs on my teryx, riding with my wife and the damn belt breaks. Apparently Kawie doesn't cover anything rubber in their so-called warranty. Even if a seal blows out and covers your belt, they'll fix the seal, bu tyou get to pay for a new belt. There are alot of forums on the web with this same disappointment from Kawie. 1 guy is thinking about starting a petition and sending it to Kawasaki. Sign me up!!

Lets hope these best issues are isolated incidents.

Has anyone figured out what exactly is causing this problem?

"Good Will"

So, my Kawie dealer tells me to bring in the Teryx. They say this is the first incident in Canada that they have heard of, so they will fix my machine on a "Good Will" basis. It won't cost me anything ( I hope) and Kawasaki wants whats left of my belt for analysis. It's hard to believe that with all the belt issues in the U.S., mine is the first reported one in Canada.

Glad to hear they are going to take care of you. I think the ratio of bad best to good belts is very low, however, that is not very comforting to someone who has a bad one.

warranty

Sounds like you have a jerk of a dealer. I buy Kawasaki because of the treatment I get from my dealer. I had front and rear seals leaking at 15 hours and it was fixed no questions asked even though they know my wife likes to play in the mud. Now with the dyna cdi I have a belt slippage problem (also attributed to wife and cdi) and when I called to set up an appointment for the ground wire recall on the carb heeating circuit, I told them about the belt slippind and needless to say it will be covered under warranty, no questions asked. I'd find another dealer.

After this weekend I am having some belt slipping going on. I am going to call my dealer tomorrow to set up an appointment for the recall and see what they say about the belt.
