08 jetting for elevation change

Hey guys, My 08 runs great at sea level on the Oregon Dunes. I have the Dragon Fire Jet kit w/ air box mod, Dragon fire Clutch kit, Dragon fire exhaust.

I recently went up into the mountains to hit some dirt trails and do some rock hill climbs. My Teryx ran like crap up there. I couldnt even get to full throttle she was poping and sputtering so much. I was at 4200 feet. I assume that the problem is I'm running too rich because of the thinner air.

So my question is, "What's a quick and easy way to get that fixed without re-jetting?" On my quad and dirt bike I can adjust my fuel air screw to lean out the gas a little, but these UTV's are new to me so I dont know where that adjustment is or if it has one. And if so, any body have any helpfull hints? How many turns out?

Thanks

You can get a dial a jet but all we did was removed the lid for the air box and she ran fine. We started at 5950 elv and rode all the way up to 115, I wasn't going to re jet just for the weekend and we ran 91 octane gas as well.

I don't know what the DFR air box mod is but if the stock airbox is still intact you can add a TPI valve or two to the lid and open them as you go up. It would be like air jetting it.

todd....quick question. i have your jet kit and tpi valves on my 08 with an uni filter and muzzys. the jets / needles are setup to your spec, and the thing runs great. it does run a bit rich tho, as i can smell it while idling, and if i put on my windshield i can smell the exhaust coming in the cab. my question is, if i close the tpi vlave (or valves) that will lean it up right? or am i bass ackwards on that thought?

thanks
scott

I guess to clarify, i have the dragon fire jet kit and my air box is modified. i dont have a dfr box mod. I have a K&N style air filter with dust cover inside the air box and it is open on the back. meaning i can reach my hand from the back into the box. I do have a windshield and that may have a small effect on air-flow because I can smell exhuast as well. I guess next time I'm out there I can try taking the top off completly.

When you put on a windshield your going to smell any exhaust due to air being pulled from rear of vehicle to windshield.

Since your airbox is modified then I don't know a way to to a quick and easy fix.

Closing TPI makes it richer

After looking around I went with the Dial-A-Jet setup, now I just need to install it.
