What Paint?

What kind of prep, primer and paint do I need to use for the plastics. I want to do something custom but I also want it durable. I have 09 plastics and I know the hood is painted

I believe you have to prep with like a 400 grit sand paper and then use an adhesion promoter or inhibitor or something. Then paint as you would anything else. From what I have been told there isn't alot to it and if done properly then it is quite durable.

Krylon Fusion paint at wal mart is made for plastic and works great if you know how to do it, go on Rhino forums and search it. There are pages and pages about it. I painted my hood black satin and it matches the back plastic perfect. I learned how to do it the hard way, I painted it and it came out streaked and hazy looking so I stripped it all off and then figured it out the second time. Here's the problem with Krylon, when the can is fresh and full it shoots a steady and contant stream of paint, once it gets down to a certain level it starts shooting more aerosol and less paint and that make it turn out hazy looking, you can actually hear the can start hissing and see the paint come out more like a mist like you moms hairspray. Thats when you switch to a new can, if you don't your paint will be all hazy and streaked looking. You can just make sure there's no wax and its clean, instructions are on the can. Have 2 or 3 cans all shaken and ready to go, Once the can starts putting out more of mist, switch cans. You'll probably only get about 1/2 of what you think you should get out of a can but they are only about 6 bucks a can. Also try to get it done at one time you can do multiple coats or you will have to wait several days for it to completely dry before you respray it, I went back the next day for a touch up and it lifted the original coat into a bubble. I spent 5 hours messing with mine but now I could do it again in 1 hour knowing what I know now. It looks good and it has lasted over a year at the desert riding in dust with 5 other utvs. It also works good on your black stock plastic, makes them look new, side panels and bed..

If your doing with auto paint there is two things you need.

Adhesion promoter and flex agent

Call Jagged X and get Chad Riccio contact info, he is the best I know of.
