First Impressions On Teryx

So for all of you Teryx owners, what are your first impressions thus far?


For me, hands down an excellent machine, best decision I think I could have made. There are a few items that I really wish were implemented though, maybe we will see them in 2009.
  • Fuel Injection - its on the Brute Force, why not on the Teryx?
  • LCD display standard on all models (base model owners need to see how fast they are going also)
  • Fuel gauge - this one shocks me, why would a fuel gauge not be standard? Guess the only way to know is either stick your head between the passengers legs, or when it stops running, you know your empty
Those items are fairly minor, yet probably items that would make the Teryx that much better.

Lack of:

EFI
Digital Display
Fuel Gauge

I guarantee you this was intentional so that Kawasaki could meet a target price point with a certain amount of profitability.
I'm sure we'll see those features in the not too distant future.

I spoke to Kawaski today, I think we hit the nail on the head...It was a rush to get the initial units to the dealers. I am sure cost was an issue as well, but seriously, these few items would seriously set this apart from its competition.

Rumor has it that possibly late model 2008 Teryx's may have EFI!

Ironic though that you and I had the same answer

I have both a Rhino and a Teryx. I never drove my Rhino Stock, I installed a So. Cal Fab Long Travel kit immediatley after purchasing. So comparing the two is kind of hard. First impression is :

the suspension is way too stiff.
not a smooth throttle. seems a little jerky!
Heavy
My seats are a pain to get off (I've seen some that are easier)
Not as easy to get to the motor as the Rhino

I personally don't care about the LCD display, the speed odometers are never accurate after installing aftermarket tires. Im installing a Lowrance 540C GPS in the same spot which gives me MPH and Voltage too. I will install a autometer oil press and water temp gauge.

Im glad their carberatored! I can work on Carbs, Playing with those aftermarket fuel programmers never seem to work right. I believe the pressure from Federal air quality managment is pushing manufactors to go to Fuel injection for air polution reasonings not for performance!

The biggest thing is the potential I believe it has! When you unleash the motor its going to kick some butt!

I am going to have to agree with you on this...I especially noticed during a desert ride this weekend.

Also, once you complete the install of the Lowrance, please share some pics as this may be something I chose to do in the future!

I drove our rhino last weekend in the dunes and then at the end of the weekend drove the teryx. Wow what a difference! I flew off a dune in the teryx because I throttled down where I shouldn't have, but was used to doing so in the rhino. I still have a lot of fun in the rhino, but the power in the teryx is unbelievable.
I can not really compare stock because I never drove the teryx stock, we brought it to the shop drove it in the parking lot and then got busy....

+6 Long Travel Kit, 4 seat roll cage, seats, lights etc...

the rhino has the same so it was a good comparison in the dunes last weekend, o yah can forget the VDI and no spark arrestor on the teryx and dynatech cdi and exhaust on the rhino.
It seems the power on the teryx was smooth, but we do have a VDI.

I just bought a Teryx on 6/7/08 after many many hours of research. I love it. Some family of mine has a Rhino, and now they wish they had bought the Teryx. It has plenty of power acceleration and is very stable (considering what it is). My biggest complaint with the Teryx is the lack of EFI, and smaller things like that there is not enough places to tie it down to a trailer and that the raidiator is too exposed. If anyone is reading this that is considering a Rhino vs. Teryx, take the Teryx, you won't be disappointed!

You are totally right about Tie down points......I still hate trying to tie the front end down.
