Looking to see what issues the 09 teryx has

I have heard on other boards the 08-09 teryx had issue's with overheating. I know in 10 they upgraded the radiator. Has anyone had any problems with overheating and if you did, what needs to be done to fix the problem on the 09's? How much will it cost me to fix the issue? I hear there are aftermarket radiators out there, but they seem pretty pricey. I don't plan to do much to the motor, maybe intake, exhaust and CDI. Will also be turned into a 4 seater. Anyone have any input on this and are there any other problems that people seem to be having? Thanks

MY 08 is basically stock. I installed a temp guage and since I did I have not seen any heating issues. I rode it last memorial weekend in 100 degree + weather and temp stays 180-190. I ride so cal desert so it can get pretty hot.

There are aftermarket impellers for the cooling system that seem to work well from reports of other members. I don't have one as of yet. I will probably go with a DASA impeller.

TripleX Industries Rear Bench Seat
KBrown Customs HID kit
DASA Impeller

Thanks for the info. Are the impellers needed for a stock t-rex or one with the mods I mentioned? Is the impeller easy to install? Also, does the cage need to be removed to install the impeller?

I would say yes ..... first item i would install on ANY TERYX even a stock one is a temp gauge. Then you know what temps you are seeing. When the light comes on its usually too late. The first mod to keep the car runnign cooler will be the impeller NO QUESTION.

Will the impeller cool it down enough or will I need to replace the radiator? Sorry to ask so many questions, as I am all about reliability and want to make sure this issue is taken care if and when I buy the T-rex.

Do a temp gauge .... then an impeller. If your temps are still high do an oil cooler. After that a radiator or making your stock radiator a dual pass. The other thing is to put the fan on a remote switch. That way you can turn on the fan and KEEP IT ON.

In the 2010 they put in a new radiator. Does this resolve the overheating issue or is it still a problem in the 2010?

SAME RADIATOR as the 2008 and 2009 ...... it does have a larger fan and larger cooling lines. We will be installing a temp gauge in our 2010 in a few weeks. We will log temps and see what the 2010 needs as far as cooling goes. The biggest thing on the 2010 IMO is that fenders do not block the radiator.
