I'm in the middle of the same process. I just ordered Hunterworks tpi valve kit though instead of just doing the holes. I have not done anything to the airbox lid yet though......what's the best way to go?

drill 4 1-1/2" holes in the lid. you can then duct tape them closed, or open them if need be. i did that to help get my std bore tuned, but when i got it right with the 4 holes, i bought the ehs lid. great product!

Did you drill the holes out in the vacuum slides? I was told this was necessary. Who sells the ehs lids?

i did not drill the slides, as my dynojet kit didn't say to do it? mine runs great as-is, i think these engine kits make way more vacuum than a stocker, thus not needing the hole. ehs sell the lids and lid kits. you can buy a whole new lid with kit installed, or just the kit. i like the fact that nothing can get into the airbox, it has to go through outerwears! very important in the sand!

bingo ....... we found the most hp by removing the lid. Then the correct tunning. I think the air filters actually stay cleaner with no air box lid. As the dirt that gets into the box WITH THE LID ON is trapped in the box and swirls around. With the LID OFF the dirt does not stay in the air box.

Make sure you already have your cylinder base gaskets, they are not included in the kits.

YUP .... we ran two cars. One with no air box lid and one with the air box lid on. Both cars ran in the same conditions. The air filter on the car that had the AIR BOX LID REMOVED was 4 times cleaner. The car that had the air box lid INSTALLED was COVERED and PACKED with dirt and crap. We found this same type of info when testing intakes for the LTR450 and KFX450. The closed air boxes trap in the crap.

thanks, dasa, for backing me up on this. i have always ran my ride(any ride) without the lid, increases throttle response and hp. good airfilter and outerwears = infrequent maintenance.
