windshield

Hello..I took ya'lls advice and bought a new 09 Teryx (basic model). It's great. I plan to make a home made full windshield of 3/16" Lexan. Any suggestions on what clamps to use? Or, where to get them. I think maybe 3 per side should work well. The ones on the net are too costly for me. Thanks from "newbie" finn

Hey Finn,

I didnt have any luck finding clamps that I liked, so I just got some black self-tapping screws and screwed the lexan to my roll cage. I know it sounds redneck, but I edged the plexi with 3/4 black foam weather strip and measured for the screws, and it looks fine. In summer just remove the plastic and put screws back in the holes. Looks good and doesnt cost $300.

local hardware store sell hydraulic hose holders. personally i wouldnt go home made because i never liked the way they look. id buy one from "mote" is his name and i think he's on teryxforums.net i think they are like 150 shipped. a sheet of lexan will cost you around 50-75 dollars and wont look near as nice as one thats bent and cut at the bottom to fit the machine.

just my 2 cents

Full shield might get warm in the summer, I have the stock short wind shield on mine, it deflects the cold air over me pretty good. I've seen on here where you can buy used clamps, do a search online maybe you can get lucky. and there was a guy that custom made any size windshield on one of these sites. He had clamps as well. Good Luck. http://www.teryxforums.net/teryxs-pa...ndshields.html

Also you will need something to keep the windshield from flexing in.

Guess we could sell you some of our support angles tool

That type of package might work well for the Canucks, as it keeps shipping costs in line Todd.

I have one of Hunterworks windshields. It's seen about 1k miles on the trailer @ 75mph thru salt, snow, dirt and sleet. Goes thru tree branch scrapes daily and no scratches great product. I'm also a big boater, and have tried the Lexan products, unless you like leaning your head out the side, because you can't see thru the scratches, I would get a Hunterworks. It's ok to look around it in a boat, buy don't think much of it in a UTV. I live in a sandy, dusty area, and Lexan will scratch very quickly. I know, it's less $ in the long run. This was the first mod. on my Teryx, and the best decision.

Thanks for the comments.

We use optical grade polycarbonate then coat it with the special coating.

It really is the best plastic windshield out there.

Finn I got a linkback message and thought I would give you some info.

The windows I make are 1/4" lexan. I'll list the prices and if your interested you can email me for a shipping quote.

half clear $90
half smokes $95
Full clear $130

shipping is usually around $20 for the half and $40 for the full depending how close to texas you are. I can post some pics if you would like.
