Rear end noise

I just broke in my 09 and ever since it was new it makes a clunking sound in the rear end when you let off the gas or go down hills. Is this normal.I just got rid of my rzr because it was always broke. I hope i dont have the same problem with my teryx.

Hi Is this in low or high gear? My 08 was doing this and I found that the gear shift rod which is about 1/4 inch was flexing. So I got a 1/2 square tubing and slip it over the rod and welded it just above the threads. Readjusted the linkage and it is much much better. Good Luck

This subject has been gone over a million times (check the searches). The clunking sound you hear is ABSOLUTELY NORMAL!!! Or should I say, we all have it and it aint going away. It might sound a little less noisy if you pull the engine brake terminal off, but its still there. I learned to not pay attention to it anymore. You will do the same or it will drive you crazy!

It's normal mine has been doing it since day one. It has 1400 miles and no problems. Congrats on getting rid of the RZR,my friend just sold his for the same reason. What were some of your problems with the RZR? My friends with 400 miles were
1 hub
1 spindle
2 cv joints
loose wires
2 seat belts
4 blown shocks
bent front shock mounts
loose holes in frame for upper a arms
front a arm bushings
4 wheel drive didn't always lock in
plus more that I can't think of.

If it makes you feel any better, it seems that everyone asks that same question about the "clunking noise" when they first own one. I was one of them!
