Beadlock wheels

I am gonna try something different with my OEM wheels.

MRW Racing Wheels & Rockcrawler Beadlock Kits

I am gonna put the steel inner ring on my stock wheels and clamp it with an aluminum ring.

I figured for around $200, I can have a set of true beadlocks that are unique. I am thinking maybe a lime candy coating on the aluminum ring?

Thoughts?

I was not able to see thier website, but I think I would buy a set of ITP's T7 beadlocks. ITP's warranty is amazing and you can still paint thier ring to any color you want.(not from factory). These rims will probally be more durable than the kit. I personaly like the looks of the simple beadlock ring that comes on the ITP's rather than other company's that have a bunch of holes, loops, and other stuff on them.

Actually, ITP's warranty is great on non-beadlocks..I got lucky and slipped one under the radar and got my busted wheel replaced, but an ITP rep told me that beadlocks were 'rugged wheels' and were meant to be abused so there is no warranty on them...I've not managed to break another one, we seem to think that it was a manufacturing error instead of rough treatment...but I could be wrong on these wheels, maybe someone on here will chime in and set the record straight...I do love the wheels though...they have a great look to them.

The ITP's are way out of budget for me. I have seen alot of T7 beadlocks, this will be the first set of factory wheels with beadlocks I have seen. ?maybe there is a reason? Ugly? We will see soon enough.

Theres another company out there that sells a beadlock ring that has steel clamps that clamp onto the inner ring of the stock wheels, they look just like the rings on the ITP bealocks..but with far less bolts, Not 100% sure how well that would work for anything other than looks...and possibly strengthening the outter bead of the wheel...I dont think it would hold the tire on any better because you'd have very little force exerted on the sidewall or the bead to hold it in place...at least I cant get my head around it here, if i saw a set then my mind might be changed...I think it was like $150 or so for a whole set, rings, clamps and everything...I'll do some digging and see what I can find...These that you linked might be the same thing...but I remember seeing a metal piece that actually hooked around the lip of the wheel...not sure though

Thumbs down

No warranty on beadlocks. I broke mine and they said they only warranty non-beadlocks. I believe they are all cast aluminum wheels made in China.

Thats pretty similar to what happened to mine, nothing broke off, the bead just split and peeled away from the rest of the wheel...no idea how it happened, no rocks, or sticks or anything on the trail i was on...but I ride with a buddy that's broken his wheel twice..the first time they just re-welded the wheel together and it was fine til he hit another rock going too fast and busted the wheel...too bad theres not a way to add an inner ring or something to these wheels to make them stronger...

I noticed in the picture you have Baja cross tires; how do you like them?

I like them a lot. They are very durable, but they are a little heavy at 26.5 lbs..
