Newbe First Teryx a good deal?

Hello all, I stubbled upon a teryx after a search for my first side by side for $4750, the machine doesnt run but the owner says he doesnt have the money to take it to the shop. from what he says its doing it seams like the tightening valve problem I see that alot of other ppl on the forum are having. I good mechanic skills and a nice shop to work on it in. should I take a gamble on this machine? Is this a good deal? its a 2008 LE with 130hrs and 1600 miles, Thanks

I saw a 09 w/ 200 miles for 8800 on craigslist.. I would wait and get a working machine.. Sounds like too much of a gamble unless u can get it running first

8800 and 4750 is a big difference. I dont wanna spend over 6k on one or ill just keep my quad. I just want it for running around the farm and a little trail riding. it has ss wheels and bighorn 26" bighorn tires as well. also has dynatek ignition and a radio installed. Has anyone seen one cheaper? thats only needs minor repair at least?

You can not go wrong at that price if you have a little mechanical ability even if you have to do an engine overhaul you will still be ok, BUY IT.

Well i picked it up. I adjusted the valves and it started right up. has a knock in bottom end of the motor though so I pulled the clutch cover off and can feel some play in the crank when i turn it by hand. So i pulled the motor out and having a local shop do the rest. hopefully I can get it done for around 500 bucks if the crank is good. Looking to slap a few mods on while I put it back together. I Dont want anything wild just enough to get to maybe 60mph and stock torque. I want this thing to last, nothing thats gonna put much stress on the motor, what do you guys recomend. I have the dynatek ignition already becuase it was on it when i bought it.

I would at least go ahead and put a standard bore kit that will put you up in the 50-60 hp range just depends on what mods you add
