need help on what to do might be costly

first off don t have all the info yet but will fill you guys in on what i know. i have an 08 teryx that has 77 hrs on it and is bone stock. about three months ago i was driving out to the store running about 45mph and it just lost all power i could go about 25mph So i thought it was the air filter so i bought a new one and the old one was pretty dirty. so changed it and it was like new again. it was like that up until about 2 weeks ago when my brother used it and said it was doing the same thing again so i went bought new spark plugs thinking it was it. but got on it to use( not changing the plugs yet just wanted to see how bad it was doing the lost of power again) and it would barely start then once i got it started it ran worst tan ever no power whats so ever and it kept on dying. so i called the dealer for so advice and he said that the carbs were probably dirty so i loaded it up took it to them for them to check it out. told them when i dropped it off it felt like it was only running on half a motor. called them today for an update and they told me it wasnt the carbs that one cylinder has no compression and they would have to tear into it more to diagnose the cause. so that is where i am at right now will update you guys when i get updated. but if anyone has had this problem somthing like or has any ideas let me know because im thinking that this might get a little costly.

If one cylinder has no compression its probally a valve train related problem, the best thing it could be for your sake is valve adjustment but it could be several things. The fact that you hear no strange noises is good and no more hours than you have but the 08 models had a poor air filter set up that let a lot of dust and dirt by that lead to a lot of piston and ring damage that would cause compression failure so keep your fingures crossed.

If its a minor issue buy the plenum rings for future protection. If the motor is cooked put a higher perfomance one in.

To get a engine kit with pistons, pins, rings, cams, valve springs depending on whos kit you go with will be anywhere from 600.00 to 1000.00 for the kit, if you stay with a standard bore you don't have to bore your cylinders and nicasil them which cost about 500.00 and that is just you parts which these kits will almost double your hp but with these kit you will really need a new exhaust like the muzzy which cost another 800.00 bucks

and clutch kit, STOP kit, air filter set up, jet kit etc.

Going back to stock versus performance can be pretty expensive.

I disagree, if you have to rebuild the motor anyways. For a little bit more, go at least to a performace stock bore kit. Huge gains for a few $ more that the stock rebuild. You have to take it apart and replace pistons and ??? anyways Why not do the slight additional cost and get big power upgrade. People do it with properly working motors.

I agree with the performance upgrade, it only makes sense. Unless you are more interested in saving money than going faster. Would buying someones stock pistons and rings off a low hour motor that has been upgraded work, they should be the proper size I would think and there has to be alot of them holding down papers somewhere. I know mine are good (20 hours on them) and I have no use for them now that the cylinders and stock cams are gone. Could possibly be an option if you do the work yourself cause I am pretty sure a stealer would not install used pistons.

Oh I totally agree with going performance but just letting him know you have to change a few other things that can run the bill up.

I'm all for it, I sell the parts!! LOL
