Thumbs down Transmission issues

having big issues with my teryx jumping out of high gear it has gone through many adjustments at kawi dealers that are now out of business in the local phoenix area. I did have it adjusted by a kawi tech and still jumps out of high gear. ive contacted some local dealers and am getting the run around all wanna charge me for a tear down about 1600- 1800 bucks. Ive read in lots of forums that kawi has had lots of issues of this sort and have even heard this from guy theat ran the kawasaki superstores in my local area has this has happened and now is out of warranty. Im so tired of the dealer bs when its time to make right by warranty repairs. Has anyone else had these troubles or is there a fix to the huge trans problems? help anyone

I just wanna say shame on Kelley's Kawasaki in mesa AZ, metro motorsports, and Camelback too you guys suck!! If your in AZ avoid these bastards they are all out for the $$.

Mine kept jumping in and out of low gear and all it took to fix mine was to adjust the shift linkage. I have heard of many others having this issue and the adjustment fixed the problem. Hope this is the same thing you need because it is simple and easy. Good luck.

I had problems also ( caused by jumping to much or hard ) and it was just my linkage, I would try pulling off your engine cover and disconnect you'r linkage in neutral , then start it up put the trans in high by hand run it up and down the street, if it stays in gear you know it is the adjustment, if it pops out being that you'r in A.Z I would go to UTI and see if they would check it out, a school is much cheaper then a dealer. Good luck. P.s I just got back to C.A from above forrest lake elk season yeah!!!!

Same problem, the linkage adjustment only worked for so long and according to other posts actually causes more damage in the end. We have now been told it will cost $3000 to take the tranny out and find the actual problem! We are not pleased and it sits idle and completely useless at the dealership till we can figure out what to do!

Popping out of gear

The popping out of gear is caused because the motor flexs in its mounts and the shift tower is mounted solid to the frame. Quick fix is to grind the shiftgate out so the shifter has some free room. Once you get it adjusted it should not pop out anymore, but just so you know the high range gear in tranny is only about 1/8-1/4 inch wide. Just my 2 cents

I don't know where you are but $3000 to fix a internal tranny issue is way out of line unless a tranny gear broke and took out other parts.

I have repaired several of these, there were a couple broken parts on the main tranny shaft.

WE do offer ship in and ship out engine repair.

Yeah I am in MS. I have had a guy ship a engine from Oregon but freight across the border would be tough I guess.

You can still call and get some advice for free though.
