need help, 4x4 went out

the other day i was muddin in my teryx. i was a little stuck, rockin it forward and reverse to get out. i was in 4x4 with the dif lock pulled all the way back. all of a sudden i heard a pop and the steering got real lite, (no more 4x4). I havent had a chance to tear into it yet. Does anyone know what the usual suspect would be? Where do i strart looking?

The locking parts are deep in diff where as the 4wd engagement part is on the the input shaft right behind the front yoke and seal. It is just a collar that slides back and forth.
