Differential Service

Just did the 20hr. front & rear diff. service. The manual lists 3 different oils for the rear which I could not find. The dealer called Kawasaki and was told to use their "Wet Brake & Gear Oil". They explained that it was an oversight on their part and should have been listed in the owner's manual. Hope that helps some of you.

Just did mine before this weekend and used the wet brake from Kawi also easier to find around me than tractor oil.

Yeah I did some looking too with no luck. Wonder why Kawi didn't list their own product to be used? I will be buying a funnel with a flexible tube next time for the front one!!

They were both a pain to get fluid in. I am going to just get a pump it will be easier I think.

Basically, you can use any hydraulic/tractor oil (5W-30ish) for the rear diff. This is mainly due to the wet brake in the back. In a pinch, ATF will work, but get it out ASAP as the "slip" additives will render your rear brake useless. Fill the front with whatever your using on your oil change. Kawi spec 10W40, but anything that is JASO-MA will work.

Just thought i would add this for those who are having trouble finding the proper fluid for the rear diff.
NAPA part # 85-401
it meets all the criteria and it comes in 1 gallon jug, for about 12 bucks!
I figure i should be able to get 3-4 changes per jug.
