Loss of speed and power

ok so i went riding this weekend and noticed that my teryx has a huge power loss. When u stand on it it just doesnt have the umph it did have. It does not cut out or backfire and idles fine. When you hold the throttle to the floor it feels like i am not getting all the rpms that i should get and my top speed is about 28mph in low (i was getting around 38-39 before). The only thing i have done lately is adjust belt deflection by taking out a shim.. If anyone has any suggestions my ears are open! would like to get it back to normal before Mud Nats!

oh and my buddy has a brand new teryx set up exactly like mine minus the vforce John stage III clutch and he runs off and leaves me. Not liking that very much! lol

So air and fuel are not being restricted?

it has a clean air filter and it runs fine as far as engine. It doesnt backfire or run slugish. I just dont have any top speed and when you get it on a hill or in mud it just dont have any power. Before it would just rip and tear up hills and in mud, now the tires will barely spin

My Teryx does the same thing. It turned out to be the fuel pump.$600.00 each time. Mine goes out every few months. I had kawasaki dealership check it out and they concluded its the machine not the fuel. Checking around others are having this problem. Even called Kawa.Corp. they were just rude and uncaring. I told them their people checked it out and they said "Its not OUR people" So..they dont even support their dealers. No support there.

so Mag, does your machine run bad or miss or backfire? mine does none of those things, infact in neutral or just putting around you would never know there was a problem. It revs in neutral just fine and even in gear, just when you really need the power it feels weak but still runs smooth. and like i said i get only about 28 mph when i was getting around 40mph before.

thats kinda why i thought it may be the belt. This is my first teryx and only have about 100hrs on it so not sure what belt failure feels like. Ive had brute force but never had any belt trouble with it. But everyone keeps telling fuel pump or fuel filter, and i would think that it would run bad if it was fuel pump. I will check it and see though

In the beginning it just started to lose power. Eventually it would backfire when pushing the gas and trying to make it go. It's sitting at the dealership right now. It was purchased new and, I had it about 7 months when this started happening. $600.00 every few months gets expensive quick. The experience I have personally had with this company and how they treat their customers and dealers.. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. This has happened to others and I think Kawasaki has a bad problem.

ok thanks guys for the input... Figured out what my problem was. My spark arrester was clogged up with mud! pulled the whole stock tip off and it runs great again. So if anyone who plays in alot of deep mud and water and has stock exhaust and all of the sudden starts losing power check you S A!

Good to know thanks. If mag is spending 600 every few months he is being taken for a ride by his shop. I have never heard of that before. Mag, find a new shop.

Mag, also you don't mention what year and how many miles on your Teryx. What are they? You just joined the forum this month. Welcome. How long have you had your problem and where have you researched?
