08 Chatters on Decel

Hoping I can get a little info on this. My 2008 840 Teryx has been getting noisy lately. Now it chatters when I let out of the gas. Its definetly gear related.
What are some things it could be?
thanks

Sounds like you may need to adjust your shift linkage a little. The machine may be kicking in and out of gear if i understand what you are describing correct. Adjustment is fairly easy to do, just a finiky adjustment to get exact due to some shift rod and shift tower flex. Good luck

Having the same issue.

I think I am having the same issue for awhile now, just been to busy to work on the car. I have some free time this weekend and was going to try and tackle this project. I have a 2008 Teryx and I have a loud chattering noise when I am in gear driving the machine. It is very loud in the cab. If it is my linkage thats not adjusted correctly, where would the noise sound like it is coming from? The noise in my machine sounds like it is coming from the rear end. I noticed that when I jack the rear end of the car up one of my axles wobbles. Since the axle is bent/bad could it ruin the CV? Would a bad CV make a really loud noise while driving? Just tryin to trouble shoot before I tear into it. Any help would greatly be appreciated!

fifdtrue a bad cv definately makes noise. Most usually click but some people describe noises different. If you notice you have an axel wobbling i would start looking there.

I got the same problem, but its not just when you let off the gas. I noticed when my speed increases the chattering gets louder and more rappid. Almost sounds like a metal zip tie on the drive shaft and its hitting every time it goes around, but all axles and drive shafts are clear. Checked the belt, it looks good, and rear bevel gears look like there ok too.
Mines a 840 too, is this a problem with the 840's or more of a luck of the draw type thing.

Jeff i would look for ripped cv boots which would ruin the joint an cause clicking, or try to put the machine on a lift or jack stands and run it slowly and try to pin point the noise. Sounds like a cv joint or even a universal joint in a drive shaft. good luck

couldn't find any tears in the cv boot, and I grabbed and tried shaking the axles and they are solid. My front drive shaft does have some play in it, took the front drive shaft off and could still hear the noise.

The chattering is usually bevel gears... Though normally you'll hear it as you accelerate... the faster the louder. Could be something different in your case.

I've went through a set and 2 others I know have.
