knocking noise....

First of all just want to say this is a great site, been reading on it along time, but this is my first post...
I have an 09 LE stock...I went to Harlan County KY to the black mountain trails over weekend, did some harding riding an a little mudding all day on sat, on the way back to camp, I noticed my temp light flashing on the screen, so I shut it down, an herd coolant boiling out, didnt want to chance it so we towed it back to camp, let it cool an checked everything had to put about 3 16oz water bottles of coolant into the radiator, an topped off the resivoir, everything was good...
Hit the trails Again on sunday, ride all day an toward the end of the day when i Was ideling down hills my oil light would flash a couple times, I didnt think anything of it... well on the way back to camp, I ran it hard an hit 50 mph once, then I go to get on it again it would only go to about 40, slowed down got on it again an it would only do about 25 an it had rattle or knock to it, so I shut it down an pull it to camp, check oil an it is barely touching the dip stick.... So i fill it up with oil, an start it up, as long as it is idle to about half throttle, no noise, but once you hit half throttle the knock an rattle starts...
Any ideas on what it could be???? If I remember correct it seemed to make the noise when i first started getting pulled then it quit once we started making some speed... I've checked the belt an clutch, everything in there seems to be fine....

Im thinking rod bearings...

Any help is greatly appreciated...

Unfortunately, you're thinking correctly. If anywhere from 2500-4500 rpms you hear a knocking noise its generally going to be a rod bearing... Time to pull an engine.

I blew mine up last summer and I can tell you that once you start to hear the knocking ... the damage is done. If the motor is dragging down and wont rev ... you have probably already damaged the crank as well as the rods. once those bearing spin ... it cooks in a matter of seconds.
Time to get the wallet open.
