Jetting question

My rig is in getting the standard bore kit along with Hunterworks carb kit. The tech said he didnt need an air/fuel meter to jet, will I be ok or should I bite the bullet to buy it? Hate to spend that much money on something I will use once in my life.

You will probably use it more than you think and it is a great troubleshooting tool. You can use it on all your vehicles or your buddies, just get extra bungs.

I personally will NOT jet without one anymore, seen how far off I was by jetting without it.

Of course I sell them and my opinion could be said to be biased, but it is not.

I'm with Todd, I have a "two channel" FAST A/F meter coming and friends are lining up to use it. Not to take anything away from what he has to offer, I figured reading them both at the same time would be the best and I like the data logging ability. I'm near sea level where I live and when I go to Colorado this summer it's going to make my life much easier jetting for the altitude change.

Look at it this way... you can never have too many high-tech tools in your toolbox

I could see a problem with reading both pipes at once would be that you would waste more time trying to figure which pipe was richer or leaner...just say you were getting 16 on the meter..then you added more fuel to the rear when it should have been the front or vice versa....one at a time is the best in my opinion.

I am pretty sure a two channel means two sensors.

Yup!!

What I do is leave mine in one side and do to both carbs the same then when I get it right I switch to the other pipe to check the other carb.

As for data logging, never found it useful for me but everyone has their preferences.

I have used mine on multiple occasions, and on other ATV's, it really is nice, I don't blame you for not wanting to spend the extra money, you could buy the meter to use then resell it. There you go stealing my thunder Todd .... here's my reasoning

-It seems easier to me to read both cylinders on each and every run.

-I have to drive and watch where I'm going (no dyno) so data logging seems safer

-It cost me less than 4 bills for twice the monitoring as the one that cost 2 bills (I once bought 3 lbs of garlic at COSTCO and threw most of it away because it was a good deal for crying out loud)

-it's backlight blue and blue is my favorite color

-I believe I will use it on other "tuner type" projects later on

Sounds like a good unit. I was trying to convince a guy who is on the fence about buying one that he didn't have to spend the extra dough.
