Bypass timing retard on 09 model

I figured out a way to bypass the timing retard on the 09 model with the HW speed box.

It has a feature to be able to switch between programs.

The program we use now we tell the ECU you are going slower than you are so it won't kick in the speed limiter at 51.

If you program the alternate program to tell the ECU you are going faster than you then it will bypass the timing retard at low ground speeds.

What does this mean? It means take off is better because the timing will ramp up quicker. Only draw back is your top speed will be slower.

You would use this say on the trails where 50 mph won't be reached.

Todd

Ahhh so you tested this? ........ i was the one that spoke to you on the phone about this issue. So with the speed box program you were using it was slower then stock due to the speed box telling the ecu it was going even slower then it was. So then it retarded the timing even longer. Now with the fix can you have to toggle between the two programs? The trick now is to have the speed box tell the ecu it is going faster then it is until 40 mph .... then at 40 tell the ecu it is going slower so we can have the best of both world.

I could not remember who said something about trying it.

There is no way to have both with this unit.

Yeah it was me ... so did you test it? What did you find? At what MPH did the timing go back in?

Very hard to tell. I didn't put it on the dyno, attach a timing dial with pointer to the crank to see exactly where it occurred. I just did some test runs and it feels quicker on take off for sure.

I would not buy it for this reason, it is just a plus.
