New Memeber with Tons of 08 Questions

First, let me say hello to everyone. Been lurking for a little while.....

I've got an 08 Teryx and I'm on the fence about either modding it, or selling it for an 09 RZR.
Now, that might be considered blasphomy on this board but just laying it all out there.

One question I have is do you guys think the 08 is obsolete and should be sold at any option?
OR
Can I put on exhaust, cdi, airbox, etc....basically bolt on stuff.....and make it run right?

I basically want more power and speed with the reliability of running cool and without the dreaded "miss" I keep reading about.

Ok, with all that said.....can someone give me the rundown on the proven combinations of bolt ons that work? I've got cash to spend and if I can make my Teryx move that's what I want to do.

If not, I'll have to sell it I guess.

Thanks everyone!

Take it from a guy who races cross country. RZR's are on the side of the course most of the time while the Teryx and Rhino keep going.

Your 08 is fine and some or most like them better than the 09.

Most everything works on the 08 and 09.

The dreaded miss with the dynatek non-prgrammable does not seem to exist on all vehicles. It also appears those with the programmable one with a curve will a slight bit less timing does not have it either.

Bolt on proven power enhancements are:

CDI
HW carb kit with TPI valves
Muzzy pipe
Overdrive clutch plate for more speed
Clutch kit and the Dalton is the most popular and the best in my opinion.

These are just performance goodies there are lots other accessories.

Todd

Todd,
Thanks so much for the quick, informative post.
I've seen your username several times and you seem to have gained the trust of the forum.
Do you carry products for sale as well?
Does Muzzy make a full exhaust or are you talking about a slip on?
What CDI should I be looking for?

Sorry man for all the questions, haha.

Not too many choices. I would do the programmable Dynatek right now.

Racezilla;

I have an 08, and in the last month and a half or so did my reading here and on other sites.
I spent my $ with Hunterworks, from them I bought their Carb Kit, Uni filter, Dynatek Ignition, and Muzzy pipes.
In a word, I am glad I did. Hunterworks stuff all works as advertised.
Read, investigate, and you'll be fine. Unless ya just gotta have a RZR that 08 will serve you just fine.

I don't think the 08 is obsolete or outdated. I think a big bore and the other bolt ons and you will be fine. I also think the rzr and teryx are two differant machines and it depends on what you are doing with your ride. If it was going to be a 2 seat duner machine only I might consider a rzr s but for a all around machine I don't think you can beat a Teryx.

Find someone that has a good bolt on performance kit that knows what combinations work to deliver the most horsepower with keeping the motor as reliable as posssible. No ones likes being towed back to camp. As far as the 08 goes, those are fun to upgrade the motor because there are more options available for upgrading.
