08 Teryx (((lets make it FAST!!!)))

First off, Let me say that this forum looks great! Im new to it for one reason...I just got my 2008 Teryx LE yesterday, love the darn thing...

I have a buddy with an 06 660 Rhino and I want to be able to walk from it, especially from the get-go and mid range. Dont really care about top end...Well, not more then take off. He has a cdi, full exhaust and something else that he wont say. I know that it is not anything to do with the belt or clutch...

I dont want to do anything internal just plug and play parts. Would like for it to do a reasonable 62/65 but want it to get there fast! Not sure what cdi to use? I really dont want it to be loud, if I can get away with just sticking with the stock exhaust and just changing the end cap that would great...I am not to familiarized with this engine, so I dont know what to do and what not to do. I am on a budget so any tricks or mods that I can do, I will do myself...

Any input on manufactures, parts to buy, what not to waste my time on and any proven mods along with tricks would be appriciated greatly. I live near Orlando, Florida. Anyshops near me?

Thanks,

Dyna or VDI CDI are your best bets.
Four Stroke Techs double washer trick or an overdrive plate in the clutch cover will get you more top end.
Pull the exhaust baffle and a metal tip for looks.
All should help.
There is some good prices on a used muzzy out there too. People with BBKs went to the pro pipe or DASA exhast.

Thanks, Which cdi do you recommend and why or how much power over the other? Also, What is the six washer trick and what does it do and How do I find it? By pulling the exhaust baffle out would I have to re-jet? If so, to what?

This is the thread you are probably looking for and I guess its double washer not 6. I have never done it. I think Shan and Xchamp may have or know all about Mickeys cheap washer/clutch mod.

I know that you said budget but the muzzy exhaust is an awesome bolt on, change the exhaust put the cdi on and add dalton clutch or have a vforce john clutch mod and unless your buddy has done alot of internal engine work you will blow his doors off, I own a 06 rhino and a 09 teryx

the six washer trick is 3-4 mph on top end only, most of the cdi are going to do the sme things on a stock 08 remove the speed limiter and raise the rpm limit taking the spark arrester out gains around 3 hp

I don'thave any pictures of the washers but it does what the overdrive plate does I have just heard mickey at four stroke tech talk about it most people just put the over drive plate on and the vforce john mod is a guy in PA that machines the clutch to make it perform better it changes the rpm shift rates he also machines the clutch cap to do what the od plate does but the cost of that mod is 350$ plus frt to him he pays two day frieght back to you, there is alot of great peformance mods out there that really wakes your teryx up, like I said earlier you spend same money on teryx and rhino teryx blows it away but unfortunally most of them are not cheap

i know you said you didn't want to do anything internal, but a std bore fst kit is by far the best bang for your buck! think about it, you could even have your dealer install it if your worried. any shop could put it in! bigger gain from this than all other mods combined!
