location of intake

This wasnt one of kawasaki greatest ideas. With the amount of swirling dust coming for between the box and the cab the location of the intake wasnt smart. Thinking of modding it with a snorkel of some sort with a larger hole to make it breath better. Has anyone do this before looking for some ideas.

2009 teryx stock: muzzy exhaust, clutch kit, overdrive plate, and uni air filter in box ready to install.

This is what I did. Only clean filter every30 or 40 hours now instead of every 3 or 4 hours.http://i950.photobucket.com/albums/a...9/IMG_0965.jpg

I took the snorkel off of the lid and faced it forward, then cut a hole in the top of the cover. It stays so much cleaner than when facing to the rear.

I asked this once before and nobody replied but here goes...Why can you not do it like on the kawasaki mule? The intake is overhead in the rollbar. It actually breaths through the b pillars. Would be great on the teryx too.....if you could tune it.

I don't see why not. The vent lines are in the rollcage.

Then you could get away from the googy looking snorkels kits completely.

Yes I did see more power, got to rev limit quicker. It got to much air at first & carbs surged. So I covered about 1/2 of intake opening with tape. Ran good. Then I upgraded poor air filter design with uni filter & billet intake adapter. Ran very bad. Ordered a jet kit got it running pretty good again. These things a terrible to jet, maybe I should have got to fuel injection model.

I am glad that I waited for the fuel injected model. I have the Uni filter stock replacement and reversed the snorkel and it is running just fine.
