Standard bore fact

Well i have been testing a standard bore teryx now for about 2 month. Here are my actual finding.

We set up cones .... 200, 400 and 700 feet.

The cars we ran were
1. 2009 teryx with FST standard bore kit,MSD, Dasa pipes, XMF long travel kit and 4 seat cage

2. 2010 teryx with Dasa pipes, MSD and 4 seat cage.

Now for the testing.

#1. The 2010 would beat the 2009 at 200, 400 and 700 feet EVERYTIME over and over again by about a fender. The 2009 had a dalton clutch NO WEIGHTS .... that is what we time tested to be the fastest setup for that car. The 2010 had a STOCK CLUTCH.

#2. Yes the 2009 car went 73MPH and the 201 car would only go 65. The 2009 car woudl pass the 2010 at about 55 MPH

NOW for the good stuff .......

We started playing with custom clutch stuff i have been working on. We ended up with a setup that made the 2009 beat the 2010 by 2 cars. It is hard to believe and i was AMAZED .... the car felt like a whole new car. By CORRECTLY clutching the car we gained 2 car lengths. Now the 2009 feels like a whole new machine. Yes even with the dalton clutch and no weights the 2009 felt faster then the 2010, BUT IT WAS NOT. The 2009 felt like it ripped and was running like a bat outta hell, but it was not faster time after time then the 2010 UNTIL we modded the clutch even more. Now the 2009 revs and hauls the mail.

FACT ,,,,,

We raced the 2009 with the NEW FASTER clutch against a 2008 with a FST 840 ....... and the FST 840 was faster then the standard bore. The FST840 had a dalton with no weights. So i cannot wait to get our new clutch setup an 840 and see what it does.

Steve you said the 840 was faster so what was the top speed on the 840 if the standard was 73 mph

We did not race the 840 and the standard bore to top speed. We only raced those about 800 feet. I have no doubt the 840 will do 70 - 73 with the dalton clutch and no weights. we will see what it will do with the new clutch setup n a few weeks.

BELIEVE IT ... NO BS ..... dont get me wrong i drove the 2009 BEFORE we modded the clutch and it felt faster, but line them up and the 2010 would win over and over again ... UNTIL .... we dialed in the clutch. Now the 2009 will beat the 2010 EASY and all day as it should.

LOL ... well i do have to say the 840 had a much lighter 2 seat cage and it was a 2008. I have a nice 2009 with a 4 seat cage i will be testing too in a few weeks.

I would still like to here from guys that just put a long travel kit on about how much power was lost, because that's all I heard was guys telling me they needed more power because they lost so much. Maybe back 2 years ago the LT kits had more drag on them then they do know but that was what sold a lot of kits for me when people put LT kits on.

You never did tell me what RPM the STD bore kit is turning now?

Steve are you changing weights, springs, machining. What are you changing in the clutch to tune it? Is this going to be a kit you sell?

I'm not sure he wants to tell what he is doing because of the way everyone copys everything anymore and he doesn't want to give away all his hard work for nothing. I didn't even ask him what he was doing when he told me about two weeks ago.

Makes sense just curious if they designed new weights or were working with just springs.

yeah i dont agree with stealing ideas and then marketing them as your own, but isnt this the reason we all get on here? to learn tips and tricks to make our machines perform their best? i would be pissed if i spent all that money and then get beat by a lesser machine. now dont get me wrong, i like dasas' products very much, but if its something a garage tuner can do, i say spread the word.
