840 results with dalton kit...

i got my clutch kit installed yesterday..i used empty weights with no screws and rivots..amber or orange primary spring with silver secondary spring.and a utv crap milled stock cover..i bought this kit and cover from a dude on teryx forums for 200.00 and couldnt turn it down.anyways here is the report..it has a little stall than stock...but i kinda like that!and i also removed the kebs by removing the arm.now for the ride report...it is very important to get this done!it will spin the tires so hard it feels like an old kx 500 it spins so hard!i think i can do a donut on dry blacktop!it will spin so easy now and pulls like a freight train now..but i am kinda dissapoited in my top speed run with stock wheels and tires....its only 68 and its hitting the rev limiter....thats from the stock speedo.but man its a blast to ride now..i am so satisfied with it now...it runs killer.now i got to fine tune the carbs and be done with it for a while anyways.its time to ride!anyways my outlook on the dalton stuff is 2 thumbs up.

Whitey what kind of ignition are you running and what kind of rpm is it when you hit rev limiter, sounds like you need to adjust your rev limiter is your ignition programable, I am running a msd from Hunterworks with my rpm limit set at 91 or 9200 when I finish my AMR 840 I will have to get the msd reprogramed

With just a clutch cap that's very believable.

Mine with no clutch kit rev limits at 72mph with a fresh belt... Worn belt this could be lower... If you have it clutched to shift at a higher RPM through the shifting phase the top speed will be lower. If you want more top speed you'll have to put more weight in the clutch weights to get the shift rpm down but this also might make you slower through the shifting phase depending on what RPM the cam likes.

i also added a new belt when i done the install.before the kit with the stock clutching and 840 i could get to 60 fast and then it would cut out on the rev limiter.same symptom then as i am having now with the clutch kit and cap except its at a higher mph.i was hoping for more but it does get there fast.

here is a thought that came to mind about the cover.....me and my mechanic compared the 2 covers i had while i had it apart and couldnt find no differences what so ever.it looks exactly the same but i installed the one i had bought because he told me it was an utv crap cover and would help top end.is there any chance that my car could have gained top speed with the clutch kit and new belt while using the stock cover??would a dalton cover give me anymore?
