Need a quick answer on air fuel readings

I'm in a hurry to get my carb tuned so I can leave for a trip in the morning. I am running the fst 840 with muzzy pro and dynatek non programmable.

Right now I have #40's and 190 front 195 rear. Stock needles, two shims under the needles. Idle is around 12. WOT is high 11's. Mid is a little rich to but still mid 11 or so. Any quick suggestions? Pulling the shims out? Thats with the hunterworks unifilter and without the lid. Putting the lid on makes it way to rich.

Also will the readings allow me to go ahead and ride safely until I have more time or is this a no go? Also with the unifilter can I run with no lid? Maybe slide the wifes panty hose over the top?

There is no quick answer, your still rich so smaller jets will bring it down.

Just remember you not getting that rich with lid on because of lack of air although that is some of it, you getting richer with lid on because of the added vacuum in the airbox and it is pulling more fuel in.

Go get you a straw and poke a hole in it near the top and try to drink from it, hard to get liquid up, plug the hole and the liquid comes right up. The hole is making you lose your vacuum

i had to remove my #40 pilots and use the 38s.....i am at 205 front main with needle and no shims and the back is at 215 but needs to drop back to the 210 and i have both shims under stock needle...going by the readings anyway..mickey says to tune for around mid to high 12s.i would be willing to bet that us boys on here tuning these carbs can do it 10 times faster than any dealer in the u.s.!!i have had mine off around 100 times trying new combos...if i had my mind right i wouldve bought the air fuel guage first thing.if you dont have it you are only guessing.with it you know exactly what to do..or whats going on anyways.
