Spark Arrestor

I have read that taking out the spark arrestor gives you get a little more power. Has anyone just cut the spark arrestor off and just put the tip back on?

I pulled it out just to hear the sound and didn't really like it. But I thought if I hacked off the arrestor and just put the tip back on it might change the tone and still provide more flow.

Any thoughts??

It is really not the spark arrestor that is the problem. Pull the whole thing out and look at how it is made, the end in the muffler is closed off and the exhaust has to go around it in the small pipe of the muffler.

There is a 2.5 hp gain on our dyno from removing the whole thing.

Tod are there any long term affects of just leaving the tip out all together?

I would like to just run the tip off and dynatec cdi.

I have heard other say they did not like the sound of the exhaust without a tip on...said it was raspy.
