After Market Carbs

Im a new member but have been reading for a while. It seems most people are having problems with upgrades due to the vaccum carb style and loosing suction from open air boxes, wouldnt it be easier to buy new flat slide carbs that work strictly on cable pull?

Welcome

I think you read a lot about the problems with vaccum carbs because we have different levels of people on the forums and everyone has a opinion on what to do,they just need to keep it simple and use a air/fuel gauge because everyone is jetted different so no one has the right answer for everyone. It will be the same using FCR's or EFI for that matter. JMO.

Never had a problem with my stock carbs. And I am running an 840 stage III cam. I have 6 inches worth of holes in my air box. I also tuned it with an air/fuel gauge like Mickey just post. It starts in any weather, only cranks over a couple of times even in the winter before it fires and idles great. Just like the intake and plenum problems... I just think they are BLOWN way out of poportion. Just my two cents.

Yea I was reading last night on another forum where one builder gets 6 or 7 more HP out of a open air cleaner system with out a plenum, and another builder with out the plenum only got 1 hp more more. The net gets a little crazy when it comes to hp numbers and selling stuff.Let along just trying to get a staight answer!
