Any problems with the unifilters?

I've had problems with my unifilter. I guess I'm not getting enough of the oil back out of it. Seems like it's complicating my jetting issues. Does anyone out there have thoughts on the uni? I guess I'm just not doing it right.

No problems with mine. Are you using the UNI cleaning kit? It seems like a few people on here are having issues tuning there 840. I did not have one issue tuning mine. Whitey's deal confuses the crap out of me , your situation seems your retuning yours because you switched cams and cant seem to get it dialed in? Did you get it right and then recheck it later and it was off ?

I actually didnt switch cams. I took mine out to trade in to Mickey he and I both thought they were stage two's and we were gonna do threes. Turned out mine WERE threes. I put them back in. Right now on the rear cylinder I'm at mid 11's with the airbox lid off. If I take the filter off I'm at 14. Just wondering if that filter is too oily? Can't be though. My jetting is much smaller than other 840's. Going to 185 on the rear 180 on the front. Just wondering why my isn't flowing like others.

Wow are those klein numbers? Mine would melt the header pipes off jetted like that. I do run mine with the air box lid on. I have two tpi valves in and two 1 1/2 inch holes drilles above them. My front cylinder does scavenge from my rear. That is why I am at 225 front and 205 rear. Stock springs and needles with two shims under each, stock pilots and 3 turns out on screw. If I changed anything on this.. shims ,screw turn or mains at all it would throw it all out of wack. I got lucky and got it on the second try. I adjusted a little after I got it right and it threw it off like crazzy. My starting point was what whitey was running and when I started it the pipes started popping and glowing right off the bat. I turned it off and adjusted WAY rich and it was dead on through idle, mid ,WOT.. Messed with it a little more and it threw it way off so I went back to my second guess and it was dead on.

I love my Uni.

Make sure you use the Uni filter oil. I tried using a different brand of foam filter oil once b/c the shop didn't have any Uni brand in stock and it caused jetting issues.

How are you guys cleaning and oiling them? Mine does not come apart so all I can do is spray it with cleaner and try to wring it out. And then....how do I oil it without over oiling it. Sounds simple and Im sure it is......but I"m doin it wrong.

Get a UNI cleaning kit if you dont have it. The kit comes with cleaner and oil, both aresol. Spray cleaner and let soak for a couple of minutes. Wring it out with water. May have to repeat several time depending how dirty. After clean and dry spay UNI oil inside and out about 12 inches away. Let sit for a couple of min and then wring it together with your hands. It then is ready to install. You must use the UNI oil and cleaner and you wont have any issues. Just get the cleaning kit on ebay for about $20 bucks it will clean and reoil your filter about 20 times.

I spray down the uni really good with cleaner, work in it good w/ my hands, then throw it in the clothes washer (by itself), comes out spotless. Use Uni oil, and you should be set.
