What is that noise?

Hello everyone this is my first post on this group. I have a question, I have just purchased a 2010 Teryx and when I shut the key off it makes a mechanical sound for a few seconds. My dealer said that was the auto belt tightener, Is that correct?? If so does that cut down on the amount of times you have to adjust the belt from the previous years? I read on these forums that the Teryx requires many clutch adjustments?

Its KEBC

Normal and no issues.

You will eventually have to adjust your belt.

It is the electric brake that engauges at low speed, you should feel it when you are off the gas below 10 mph, alot of people disconnect it when the do clutch mods really no big deal you will see it and understand it the first time you go into the clutch.

BRAKE! I don't want no friggen brake, especially one that is automatic. Which wire do I pull to shut this thing off. All I want to hear is how to go faster, if you slow down the devil will catch up to you.--Larry

Buy an Overdrive clutch plate that removes the KEBC bearing and gain a few mph.

I really wish I had bought the 2010 with the automatic belt tensioner, maybe I will call my dealer and ask if they will install it for me!!! Funny to think that the dealer does not know what their units have and do not have on them, I guess you don't need the 20 hour service done for the belt at least! That little electric noise is the Kawasaki Engine Brake Control solenoid moving, I think it does a self-check everytime it is started and is only supposed to engage below 5 mph. Don't worry about it, it is only a minor noise compared to the rest of the clunking going on!

The funny thing is I wouldnt trust my local dealer to change my oil. For a dealer to tell you something like that should tell you something. That is why I have really been debating opening a repair/performance shop. I at least know what I am doing. Would you pay somebody $100 an hour that doesnt even know what that noise is? I get fleet pricing through my local dealer since I buy / repair so much But when we were doing two big bore kits at the same time the manager asked me why I didnt go through him for parts/service I just I then told him I wouldnt even let them fix my bike if it was warrantable. If you need any major/minor work in the KY area just pm me

If you look on top of your converter cover you will see this solenoid...follow the wire leading off it into a plug...I circled it in red...just unplug it for now until you decide which clutch cover / combination (DASA, Dalton, V Force John for example) to go with...
