Question Air intake and filter maint???

Is there any air box mods out there that replace the top of the stock airbox to allow more air for the 09 & 10's? Would like to keep the stock airbox, just get rid of that restrictive snorkle from the factory.

Also, what is that sticky oil Kawasaki puts on the air filter?? Took forever to get that cleaned out with soap and water. I'm putting K&N spray oil on it in the future.

You may think it is restrictive but it is not compared to removing the lid, absolutely no HP gain on a stock motor without it. Dyno testing here proved that. It can also screw with your air intake sensor.

As long as it is stock, leave it be as far as the lid is concerned.

As far as the oil is concerned, I would not use their oil, it is made for cotton gauze filter. Of course we sell the UNI foam filters but I would at least use foam filter oil and it is sticky!!

do not use K&N paper filter oil on foam filter, use that nasty sticky stinkin filter oil, i like bel-ray. clean filter with gas ,then clean filter with dawn dish soap ,let dry, put filter in zip lock bag add oil, work it in,your engine will suck it out if you put too much. wont hurt a thing

You mean that when you put Muzzys and a MSD on it that you do nothing to open the airbox more?

I used that K&N oil in the spray can on my UNI filter in my 660 Rhino for over 2 years and it worked great.

I really need to provide some more info here for you guys. What i really want to know is if there is a Airbox and exhaust tip mod with an MSD mapped to go with it?

I cant believe how restricted the intake and exhausts are on these motors.

That's exactly what I mean, NO gain as long as the motor is stock. Sometimes it will hurt it by screwing with air intake pressure sensor, it sees it as a pressure rise.

Our 09 is one of the fastest stock bikes around here and people think we are cheating in our cross country racing. Bone stock engine, except for the MSD, Muzzy and OD plate. The air box has our billet adapter and filter but lid is stock.

Also, since I sell items for this vehicle, my motivation would be to sell you something not try and stop you from buying something. At Hunterworks we just don't believe in wasting your money.

Hey Marty,
I agree with Merlin about not using K&N oil on your foam filter. The oils are different from foam to cotton filter. Don't get me wrong, everything I own has a K&N filter on it and part of the reason I like K&N is the ease of cleaning and re-oiling but I never ran K&N oil on foam before I changed it over to cotton.

Right now i have to disagree with you guys on the filter oil. I used the K&N spray oil on my UNI filter on my 660 Rhino for 2000 miles. I rode through alot of dust and the intake stayed completely clean, and my motor used no oil in between 500 miles changes. I have had great results with it. I just cleaned my Teryx filter and recharged it with the K&N oil. I do realize that the Teryx V-Twin has increased air velocity pulling through the filter. I will keep a close eye on it and report back on what i see.
